WOOD PELLET INDUSTRY IN VIETNAM

Given the rising demand for wood pallets driven by the ongoing trend of green production and consumption, Vietnam has become one of the leading wood pellet exporting countries. Together with the government's institutional support to ensure a sustainable wood pellet industry and the country's extensive integration in the region and many countries around the world through 15 effective Free Trade Agreements, it is expected that Vietnam will grow into a wood pellet manufacturing powerhouse in the forthcoming period offering excellent business opportunities for foreign companies in both trading and investment.

FOOD & BEVERAGE INDUSTRY IN VIETNAM

As food & beverage being the fundamental necessities of life, annual average F&B consumption in Vietnam accounts for about 15% of the country’s Gross Domestic Product. While the consumption grows steadily throughout the years, F&B industry landscape in Vietnam has transformed thoroughly as a result of the change in consumer behavior after experiencing many difficulties during COVID-19 pandemic.

ALUMINUM IN VIETNAM

Vietnam has a substantial amount of bauxite reserve of 5,800 million tons which is ranked 2nd in the world. However, bauxite mine production of the country in 2021 was shy of 3.5 million tons, which is a small fraction compared to mine production of other large bauxite-reserve countries in the same year such as Australia with 110 million tons, China with 86 million tons, Guinea with 85 million tons, Brazil with 22 million tons, and Indonesia with 8 million tons.

Demand in healthcare sector in Vietnam has been fueled by the economic and demographic transformation over the past decade. A fast-growing middle class and an aging population are the main drivers signifying a promising and exciting perspective for healthcare industry in Vietnam. Accordingly, the country’s healthcare spending is expected to reach USD23 billion in 2022, which is sharply increased from USD17 billion in 2019, also given the impact of COVID-19 towards the growing need for healthcare investment in Vietnam.

COP 26 AND THE IMPACTS ON VIETNAM’S ENERGY SECTOR

After a one-year delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) commenced on 31 October to 12 November 2021 with the hope to secure global commitments in mitigation, adaptation, and finance.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh led the Vietnamese delegation to the COP26, taking place in Glasgow, Scotland, the United Kingdom, under the co-presidency of the United Kingdom and Italy. Being designed as a core industry, Logistics has grown substantially to drive the socioeconomic scene forward, making Vietnam a desirable destination for investors in recent years. According to Agility Emerging Markets Logistics Index 2021, Vietnam is ranked 8th overall and 4th in International Logistics Opportunities.

Vietnam's industrial real estate has been emerging as a bright investment field of the investment market in Vietnam amid the Covid-19 pandemic. Most economic sectors are more or less affected by the world pandemic; however, combined with the heat from the US-China trade war, businesses operating from China tend to move factories to Southeast Asian countries to avoid injuries from this war. Meanwhile, Vietnam's industrial real estate is being evaluated as the brightest investment destination in Southeast Asia.
